This is a differet version of baccarat being played in california. This is at lucky chances casino I would like to know the house edges on the two bonus bets

first there is a pair bonus bet, based on if you bet player(then you need player to have pair o first two cards dealt) or if you bet dealer (then you need dealer side have a pair on first two cards dealt)

pair bonus bet

pair: 6:1

pair-same color 12:1

pair- same suit 25:1

2nd is a dragon bonus (different than the normal one, its based on if you bet player then you need player to win by x amount etc, if you bet dealer you need dealer to win by x)

natural 1:1

natural tie: push

four point spread: 1:1

five point spread: 2:1

six point spread: 4:1

seven point spread: 6:1

eight point spread: 10:1

Runlikegod777,

A few questions:

1. How many decks are used?

2. For the Dragon Bonus SB, do you lose if none of the listed outcomes occurs? For example, do you lose if your side wins a non-natural hand by three or less? Do you also lose on non-natural ties?

3. Finally, what is the penetration?

Runlikegod777,

The Dragon Bonus sidebet has been analyzed by the WoO at this URL:

https://wizardofodds.com/games/baccarat/appendix/5/

Scroll down to "Dragon Bonus" to see that the house edge on the Player side is 2.65%, while on the Banker side it's 9.37%.

The Pair bet is easy to calculate: for any given card, the 8 decks contain 7 suited matches, 8 colored matches, and 16 colored matches, so you'll win the sidebet 31 times in 407 tries, and lose it the other 376 times.

On the wins you'll receive 7*25 + 8*12 + 16*6 = 367 units in 407 tries.

Thus, your edge is (367-376)/407 = -9/407 = -0.022113, or -2.21%: in other words, the house has a 2.21% edge over the player on this sidebet.

Hope this helps!

DogHand thanks you the man. I'm surprised that pair bet is such a low house edge. I was estimating around 5%, thank you for clarifying that.

Could anyone verify the 2.21% house edge is right on the pair bet? My buddy thinks its 4.09% house edge on the pair bet.

4.09% is correct. The 2.21% comes from miscounting the number of cards; there are 416 cards in 8 decks, but the calculation said there were only 408.
